Kasich taking State of State on road
Breaking tradition, governor will deliver the yearly address Feb. 7 in Steubenville

Having learned a hard lesson in 2011 about building a narrative and a consensus for major policy initiatives, Gov. John Kasich will deliver his 2012 State of the State address at a successful public elementary school in Steubenville, which is in a region where shale drilling is king.
Kasich’s moving of the speech, set for Feb. 7, about 150 miles away from the Statehouse and Ohio’s capital city apparently is unprecedented for the State of the State address.

Three Democratic lawmakers rolled out a proposal on Wednesday that would provide treatment for pregnancy and disease prevention to victims of sexual assaults.
Sen. Nina Turner (D-Cleveland), along with Rep. Nickie Antonio (D-Lakewood) and Rep. Nancy Garland (D-New Albany), called the measure (SB 283 ) and a companion house bill, common-sense initiatives that protect a survivor's right to medical information and services.
"It is absolutely imperative that victims of sexual assault are provided with the full array of treatment information and options when they seek medical assistance," Sen. Turner said. "This legislation will make sure that they receive the level of care that they deserve. These measures will guarantee equal access to care for victims across this state, regardless of the beliefs of the institution they may seek the assistance from. It should not come down to the luck of the draw."
